1997 Springbank Vintage Batch 1 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Known and loved amongst whisky enthusiasts the world over, Springbank is produced using lightly-peated barley and a unique two-and-a-half-times distillation. This iconic Campbeltown distillery has now bottled ‘Batch 1’ of its latest vintage, 1997. Unusually, this bottling has been exclusively matured in re-charred Sherry butts with the final cask selection carried out by Director of Production, Frank McHardy, and Distillery Manager Stuart Robertson. 11,000 bottles have been released at cask strength.

Tasting note: Rich malt and spices on the nose, with a hint of zesty, maritime salt, which is accentuated by the addition of water. Beautifully balanced and full-bodied in the mouth, with stewed fruits, toffee, nuts and a sprinkling of pepper. The finish is fruity and spicy, with a whisper of smoky liquorice and a good length to it. A lovely example of a single malt with deserved classic status. 55.2% Alc./Vol.  - www.whisky-pages.com
