The grapes for this wine came from the E&E and Ebenzer district in the Barossa Valley - you guessed it - the E&E growers have left Barossa Valley Estate and are now supplying fruit to Colin Glaetzer. The vines were planted in 1920-21 and are non irrigated and extremely shy bearing - around 1 tonne per acre.Opaque crimson mauve colour. Superb nose that is capable of holding up in the glass for up to four days! Vanilla, blackberry, a hint of liquorice and very ripe plum notes on the nose. The concentration of the wine is very apparent from the outset. Huge palate structure, great concentration of fruit, just filled with blackberry, plum and spice with a hint of black pepper. Perfect balance, velvet smooth tannins followed by a warm finish and very long liquorice plum aftertaste. A rare wine, and certainly a must for the serious collector. Cellar 8-10 years.
