The Muirhead’s whisky brand was created in 1824 by Charles Muirhead, one of the founding members of Macdonald and Muir Ltd. Now owned by the bottlers of 'Highland Queen', the whiskies are distributed in over 20 countries.

Tasting note: Brilliant, deep gold colour. Opens with an attractive fruitiness (unripe cantaloupe in particular) combined with vanilla and soft spices. The fruit falls away after time in the glass revealing a rubber band/struck match note that detracts from first impressions. The palate doesn’t quite follow through being unexpectedly lean and oaky. While it delivers reasonable concentration, the flavours offer little complexity (vanilla, cereals) and rather than being simply dry, tend towards bitterness. The sulphury taint returns on the finish. Spicy oak aftertaste. 40%Alc./Vol.
