1992 Glendronach Single Cask No. 5896 Port Pipe Cask Strength 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Highlands, SCOTLAND
$690. 00
Bottle
$8280.00 Dozen
ABV: 49.3%
Tasting note: [15ml sample] Port pipes are usually used to ‘finish’ Scotch whiskies, so this full-term Port matured Glendronach is a novelty for a distillery that's built a reputation on bold sherried expressions. In this example, it's as though the Port has almost completely disolved into Glendronach's more familiar notes, coating the barley with a light glaze of red berry sweetness. It's so seamless that discrete flavours are hard to pick. Unexpected, but pretty faultless as far as Port matured whiskies go, the overall effect is something akin to whisky-soaked plum pudding. 49.3% Alc./Vol. 828 bottles.

Other reviews... If you are looking for something off of GlenDronach's more familiar sherry cask matured beaten track and you enjoy a mature port cask matured dram then you really cant go wrong with this, a deliciously moreish example of a port cask matured single malt.

Notes from Glendronach.... Deeply aromatic with cigar box, orange and leather with slowly emerging layers of dried grass, nutmeg, sandalwood and black cherry. Sip baked blackberry and currant with dark chocolate, cherry stone and walnut. Savour Turkish delight, dusted with icing sugar lingering unexpectedly into a nutty nougat and cream finish.
