Tasting note: [20ml sample] Rarely encountered, Madeira is one wine finishing that can really work. This one's full term, so it's a further point of difference. Deep amber topaz. A fruit medley accenting ripe peach and fruit cake, also surprisingly vibrant, building with sultanas, dates, dried apricots... Malt focused in the mouth and still superbly fresh after 30 years, it's a whisky that's more about mouthfeel offering a juicy succulence through the mid palate but ending more astringent. Similar yet different to a full-sherried style (think PX more than oloroso). 53.9% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 287 bottles.
