1991 Adelphi Limerick Slaney 23 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Irish Whisky (700ml)

A wonderful and very rare cask from an unnamed distillery in Ireland. Matured in an ex-Bourbon barrel with an out turn of just over 200 bottles.

Tasting note: Deep amber gold with considerable legs. Offers up intriguing aromas of cigar box, smoked almonds and faint jaffa, later followed by atypical notes reminiscent of pickled ginger and green chilli. Fascinating. Gently bittersweet with an unusual profile of Indian spice, chilli pepper and Fisherman's Friend cough lozenge. Aftertaste accents late sweetness as smoked almonds, cardamom, digestive biscuit and dried grass. Surprises from start to finish. Candidate for most idiosyncratic whisky of the year? 58.1% Alc./Vol.
