1989 Adelphi Clynelish 23 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The tastings for the latest batch of Adelphis were limited to 20ml samples - just enough to paint the picture and recommend, but not enough to retaste and confirm our initial impressions. Generally speaking, they represent another first class selection of young and old malts from one of Scotland's top independent bottlers.

Tasting notes: Pale straw gold hue. The rich bouquet includes fruit and nut chocolate, hints of marzipan and sweet spices. Aeration drops the aromatic intensity but yields attractive apple peel / pie notes. Like most of the Adelphi selections, this is perfectly poised at natural strength. Powerful yet elegant it includes stewed pear and quince paste-like flavours, although it's a little hollow towards the finish, it's redeemed by the overall mouthfeel which is impeccable and true to the Adelphi stable. 239 bottles produced. 53% Alc/Vol.
