Tasting note: [20ml sample] The second oldest whisky in Batch 16 comes matured in a Tokaji hogshead (that's Hungarian sweet wine). Amber topaz. A nose of serious depth: dried apricots, manuka honey, beeswax and toasted sponge cake. 2-3 minutes of air contact heightens the apricot jam / dried apricot aspect. On delivery, a superb cascade of the above without being overly sweet. Iced tea and a little sulphur too, then spicier through the middle stages, melting into a luscious, prolonged finish culminating with brandy cream sauce, caramel nib ice cream and honeycomb. Europe received a 33 year old virgin oak cask in lieu. This has got to be the more interesting choice. 46.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 218 bottles.
