The major part of Glen Elgin's present day production continues to be used in the White Horse blends, however it recently became available as a single malt, with exports of the 12 year old, mainly to Italy and Japan expanding since 1977. As a Speyside malt Glen Elgin's 'house style' remains mellow and sweetly honeyed. Soft spring water comes from the area of Millbuies Loch to the southeast of the distillery.

Tasting note: Pale gold. Immediately impresses with its evocative orchard fruit bouquet; ripe pear and hints of kumquat jam. The fruitiness repeats in the second pass which adds noticeable vanilla to the mix. A wonderfully firm, chewy malt offering semi-sweet cereal, vanilla and dried fruit flavours with gently nipping spirit warmth. Hints of cocoa at the finish. The textural mid-palate in combination with the lean, dry finale makes for a salivating malt. 46% Alc./Vol.
