1975 Glenglassaugh Single Cask #2180 Madeira Puncheon Finish 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The revamped Glenglassaugh distillery released the first batch of its single cask bottlings in April 2014, which included some exceptionally old expressions - up to 45 years old. “The response on this first batch release was fantastic, with connoisseurs worldwide delighted to get their hands on these aged, extraordinary malts,” said Alistair Walker, sales director. “We are therefore delighted to issue Batch 2 today which comprises another eight magnificent expressions – smooth, warm, characterful and sublime Highland whisky at its finest.”

The ‘single cask treasures’ were ‘uncovered’ from a warehouse at the Portsoy distillery, located just outside Speyside. All eight casks were selected by managing director and master distiller Billy Walker, and bottled in September 2015. Unfortunately, this year's Australian allocation is smaller than ever. On offer are several bottles from casks 2180 and 1118/8.

Glenglassaugh initially imported Massandra wine casks from the Crimea in 2010 for finishing purposes, reportedly the first time the winery had allowed its wood to be exported. Distilled in 1975, whisky from cask # 2180 reached 40 years of age and was finished in a Massandra Madeira Puncheon. 588 bottles were made available. 43.9% Alc./vol
