An extraordinary wine. The wine is medium dry (Amontillado). This is a Spanish national treasure. Bodegas Toro was originally founded in 1844, and is currently being run by a descendant of the original founders.
Deep onion brown colour, with very distinct green olive edges. The nose takes one by surprise, with its powerful rancio notes which are overlayed by strong notes of salted roast almonds and just a hint of caramel. The palate is much drier than expected from an Amontillado, and displays explosive power. Totally mouthfilling, with flavours of salted roast almonds over very strong rancio and hazelnut background notes. Exceptional length and depth, with one of the longest aftertastes ever encountered. Very dry lingering rancio and salted almond after flavour. Sensational taste experience. Drink.
