The Yellowglen Winery takes it name from a gold mine sunk in the middle of what are the vineyards. Today the soil delivers gold of another kind.At Yellowglen, the philosophy has always been to produce premium quality. Every aspect of the wine making, from the planting of the vines to the presentation, is designed to deliver premium quality. Made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Yellowglen "Y" style has always been a Chardonnay-driven style. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the 1993, 1994 and 1995 vintages was sourced from the premium cool climate grape growing regions of South Eastern Australia including the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley.Traditional sparkling wine techniques were undertaken to make this classic wine. Whole bunch pressing, partial barrel fermentation and extensive blending of many base wines produces a complex wine in the true aperitif style. The wine has 24 - 30 months tirage age.The Yellowglen "Y" Premium has a complex aroma of elegant Chardonnay fruit and yeast development. The bead is fine and persistent giving the flavour a creamy texture. The palate has great length and finishes crisp and dry. Best consumed in its youth - the wine has a percentage of aged material. 11.5% alcohol volume.
