A creamy white mousse is followed by a very pale gold base wine colour with fine very persistent bead. The nose displays some delicate green apple, pear and yeast lees aromas. The palate is very dry with flavours of green apple and citrus followed by some yeasty biscuit like characters on the back palate. Clean crisp dry finish. Aftertaste of green apple and biscuity yeast lees.

A 100% Tempranillo matured for 13 months in French oak. Impenetrable pitch black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense ripe black cherry, liquorice and black plum aromas dominate the nose with earthy vanillin cedar and spicy incense notes ensuing. Full in body, rich and fleshy yet structured, luscious black cherry and liquorice flavours engulf the mouth underpinned by vanillin oak, earthy incense characters and spice. Ripe chewy mouthfeel with a robust tannin structure carrying the lavish fruit. Very powerful with a long ripe chewy black fruited aftertaste of earth and spice.

Midnight black colour with a deep dark red black hue. Elevated black cherry and liquorice fruit aromas meld into tertiary nuances of old earthy cedar, leather and spicy dried herbs. Medium to full bodied the palate has generous portions of black cherry and liquorice fruit which melds into subtlety scorched earth, old cedar and spicy leather elements. Rounded mouthfeel finishing with dryish tannins and a medium length aftertaste.

A very attractive 2011 Reserva that has some nice, mature candied red-fruit and dried-cherry character, but remains lively, relatively sleek and has rather elegant tannins that build nicely on the generous finish. Drink or hold.

The iToma! wines are sourced from a medium sized family producer in the Valdizarbe Valley which is considered to be one of best areas for production within Navarra. The focus here is on freshness, drinkability and affordability all of which are achieved with aplomb.
A blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha it has deep dark red black colour with a bright dark red hue. Inviting aromas of freshly crushed raspberries, dark cherries and liquorice laced with incense flow from the glass followed by light earth and spicy fresh herb notes. Juicy dark raspberry and dark cherry flavours have a vibrant , energetic feel. Liquorice, infusions of incense and spicy earth are also apparent. Bright inky finish with fresh acidity, slightly chewy tannins and a long savoury aftertaste of juicy dark berries, liquorice, inky earth, subtle infusions of incense and plenty of spice. Terrific value here.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

'Blanco' is primarily made from Viura with a streak of Chardonnay blended in to add fruit and a backbone of seamless acidity (as Viura easily oxidises).
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of pear, lime and subtle dried honey are overlaid by wet stones and fresh herb infusions. Nicely textured with a rounded mid palate feel, flavours of fresh pears and limes sit over traces of dried honey, a subtle stoniness and fresh herbs. Finishes dry with crisp acidity, good length and an aftertaste of limes, pears, wet stone and fresh herb infusions. Tasty.

In the last few decades, Ribera del Duero has emerged as Spain's most compelling wine region. Located in the north-central part of the Iberian Peninsula, roughly halfway between Madrid and the Basque coast, the appellation resides along the upper reaches of the Rio Duero, the same river that flows through Toro and into Portugal. The vineyards grow at the highest average elevation in all of Europe and experience wide diurnal/nocturnal temperature swings. The reds typically offer plush textures and solid fruit weight comparable to those from the Southern Rhone, though others find similarities to riper style Bordeaux. The soils and climate have proven to be an excellent match for Tinto Fino (the local variant of Tempranillo).
Magnificent depth of colour featuring a super saturated inky black core and a deep dark purple black hue. Intensely scented ripe black cherry and liquorice aromatics waft out of the glass over a back drop of earthy vanillin cedar, dried meats and subtle spicy dried herb end notes. Medium bodied and not as ripe or heavy as previous vintages the palate nonetheless has wonderful freshness and buoyancy whilst still retaining its richness. Beautifully ripened black cherry and liquorice fruit decorates the mouth underscored by well disguised vanillin cedar, a subtle earthy meatiness and spicy incense infusions. Dryish finish with ripe tannins and a chewy mouthfeel. Long ripe black cherry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, earthy incense and spicy dried meats aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
