Estate-grown, and co-fermented with 3% viognier (in the form of wet skins). Even 1% of viognier can have an effect, so it's not surprising that the lifted perfume of the bouquet sends all the right messages. A ravishing wine with a brocade of red and purple fruits and polished tannins on a palate that lasts (figuratively speaking) forever. Drink by 2047.

Other reviews... The 2002 Shiraz Stonehorse (the least expensive of Kaesler’s Shiraz offerings) is spectacular. It is indicative of just how special this vintage is in the Barossa. It is a teeth-staining, mouth-filling, extremely concentrated Shiraz displaying a level of quality that makes the 2002 Bogan and 2002 Old Bastard’s potential quality level look scary. The inky purple-colored Stonehorse offers a great perfume, beautifully integrated wood, and sensational richness as well as length. A prodigious effort that easily conceals its 15.5% alcohol, it should drink well for 10-15 years

The vintage, coupled with restrained use of French and American oak, has given this wine a head start with its finesse and balance. No theatrics, just grapes from the right place.

Kalleske’s Greenock Shiraz is a single vineyard wine produced from low yielding vines on the Kalleske estate at Greenock, in the North-Western Barossa Valley. Cuttings for these vines originate from a vineyard planted on the property in the late 1800s. 2018 was superb, near perfect conditions resulting in a classic Barossa vintage. Maturation took place in a combination of American and French oak hogsheads (35% new) for a period of 14 months.
Silky, sleek, remarkably long and overflowing with rich, lavishly textured fruit.
Certified organic. Impenetrable black colour at its core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intoxicating the olfactory senses are hedonistic aromas of dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and traces of dark chocolate. Complexing elements of vanillin oak, fennel, light mocha and spice also chime in. Full bodied, rich and plush the palate is bursting at the seams with intense dark plum, blackberry and liquorice fruit which flows over a backdrop of fennel, subtlety toasted vanillin oak, light mocha and spice. Superb concentration with cashmere like tannins perfectly integrated with the lavish fruit. Finishes very long with magnificent power to the sumptuous aftertaste.

Impenetrable midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Expressive ripe dark plum, blackberry and chocolate bullet aromas rise out of the glass followed by spicy vanillin oak, subtle dried herb notes and a hint of raisins. Following in the footsteps of past vintages the palate is dense, rich, concentrated and liqueur like in its textural feel, however there’s an element of jamminess to fruit. Lush plummy blackberry and liquorice flavours are shadowed by spicy vanillin oak and confectionary elements. Velvet smooth tannins. With power to burn it finishes with some heat on the long lavish aftertaste.
