Ron de Jeremy Reserva Rum (700ml)

PANAMA
$74. 99
Bottle
$899.88 Dozen
ABV: 40%

Unashamedly a brand concept spirit that doesn't take itself too seriously is Ron de Jeremy, named after the famed star of hundreds of gentleman's ‘artistic’ films. 'Ron' also means "Rum". The novelty would have worn off long ago if it weren't for the man behind the contents: Cuban Master Distiller, Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez, a.k.a "The Godfather". Having developed highly regarded brands including Zafra, Ron Abuelo and Havana Club, his input guarantees that substance hasn't been placed second to style when it comes to what goes inside the bottle. Molasses-based (the sugar cane is estate grown) and distilled in both pot and column stills at Alcoholes y Rones de Panama in South Central Panama, maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels for up to eight years.

If you're looking for a quality house rum with a profile that typifies the lighter side of the Caribbean, as well as a silky texture and body enough for mixing, this ticks all those boxes. In short, it's considerably better than you'd expect for a celebrity-affiliated spirit.

Tasting note: Bright gold colour / shows good cling. Nicely scented with soft, semi-sweet notes of cream sponge cake, mocha, a touch of raw sugar and white pepper. Relaxed and creamy on entry, builds with good concentration into a semi-sweet, dried banana, vanilla wafer and clove profile with a very soft, whitepepper overlay. Finish sees an interesting grassy / elderflower-like note enter adding freshness. Concludes balanced, delicate and dry with moderate persistence and lingering banana cake in the fade. A satisfying, light'n'easy house pour rum for all applications. 40% Alc./Vol.
