$719.88 Dozen
ABV: 17%
Closure: Cork

Generally categorised as a fortified wine (aka 'mistelle' or 'vin de liqueur' in France), made from a blend of lightly-fermented grape must and Cognac eau-de-vie. Vieux (old) Pineau des Charentes is oak aged for at least 5 years, while 'Extra Vieux' (very old) examples remain in cask for a minimum of 10 years. Both red, white and rose versions are available, and are typically drunk chilled as an aperitif, a digestif or included as an ingredient in cocktails.

Tasting note: Deep gold / copper colour. Aromas of bitter almond mingle with manuka honey, dried apricot and sour cherry notes. The palate is concentrated, clean and fresh with almond and dried apricot flavours beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity. Soft, warming spirit. Late pecan, honey burst. Finishes clean and dry with a bitter almond, dried apricot fade. An excellent example. 17% Alc./Vol.
