Irvine Eden Crest Merlot Cabernet

This is a delightful, modestly priced wine, made from 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet. James Irvine considers this to be the second label to the Grand Merlot and has priced the wine as an introductory 'teaser'. Get a taste of this wine, and it is hoped that you will ultimately gravitate to the taste of the 'Big One'. Deep crimson mauve colour. Superb nose of chocolate, blackcurrant, spice and mulberries. The palate displays excellent fruit flavours - ripe spicy plum and blackcurrant with weight and persistence. The tannin structure is firm and complements the dominant blackcurrant flavours, with balanced cedar oak influence. An excellent medium term cellaring proportion (5 - 6 years).
