2024 Mulline Sutherlands Creek Pinot Noir
Savoury, supple and spicy with plenty of whole bunch characters threaded through it.
Semi translucent red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a light red hue. Intense violet, red to dark cherry and strawberry scents are offset by a prominent dried clove presence. Smoked meat, forest floor and spicy rhubarb notes are also evident. Savoury red cherry, strawberry and rhubarb fruits carry a strong whole bunch influence with dried clove, smoked meat, forest floor and spice elements extending across the back half. Possessing polished tannins and a supple texture it has a long and very spicy finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
A single-vineyard wine planted with MV6 and Abel clones in the late '90s; 20% whole bunches. A bright crimson. Elegant and restrained with aromas of red cherry, rose petals and spices such as Sichuan pepper and star anise together with a little new-oak pencil-shaving scents. The palate is similarly elegant and fine boned and I like the way this keeps building as it sits in the glass. The tannins are superfine and persistent. The most reticent, perhaps, of the five single-vineyard wines but a wine that will no doubt age superbly. Drink by 2032.
