2020 Fermoy Estate Cabernet Merlot

Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Midnight black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of blackcurrant infused with black olive and cigar box emerge from the glass followed by some earth and spicy capsicum notes. Rich blackcurrant fruits are intermeshed with dusty vanillin cedar, tobacco, dill like characters and spicy black olives. Good flesh and body with a firmish tannin structure concluding medium to long.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Other Reviews….
Lots of seductive aromas from violets, mulberries and Middle Eastern spices to fresh basil. A youthful, vibrant combo, although the tannins are somewhat unforgiving, they’ll be fine in time. There’s enough vitality and interest to pour this now alongside a rack of sumac-spiced lamb. Drink by 2035.
