2018 Cape Barren Native Goose Shiraz

Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Heady ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum aromatics show terrific intensity out of the glass trailed by subtlety dusted vanillin cedar and spicy blackpepper notes. Bold and rich with a velvety feel, powerful blackberry, dark plum and liquorice fruits fill the mouth. Opulent texture with lightly toasted vanillin cedar, earth and blackpepper characters sitting underneath. The tannins are polished in their feel yet sturdy in structure. Concludes long and lush.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Sourced from three vineyards 45-70yo, crushed separately, 8 days on skins in upright static fermenters, twice-daily pumpovers, run off skins at 2 degrees baume. It's medium-bodied, reflecting the freshness of the fruit and its pliable texture. Oak and tannins both do what is expected of them. Drink by 2033.
