2017 Domaine de Saint-Pierre Encore Autrement

I got the name of this Savagnin—planted on the same terroir as the Chardonnay Les Brulées—wrong last year, as the wine does not carry the name of the terroir. So, this year, I got it right for the 2017 Arbois Savagnin Autrement. All the white grapes have a direct pressing of the full clusters and ferment with wild yeasts. This year it fermented in stainless steel and then matured in stainless steel and a 500-liter cask. This is my favorite white from 2017, and I find it remarkably good for the catastrophic conditions of the year. The wine is clean and has a varietal nose, with yellow plums, acacia flowers and honey, a little volatile; it has a round palate, very tasty flavors and good volume and is balanced, with a tasty, salty finish.
