2012 Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon

Matured for 22 months in French oak. Totally opaque black crimson colour with a deep dark crimson red black hue. Scented aromas of blackcurrants are intertwined with black olives, some black cherries, cigar box, cedar and spice. The palate possesses superb richness but also has elegance and structure – two attributes not often associated with Barossa Cabernet. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackcurrants and subtle liquorice are overlaid by black olive, cigar box and a touch of earth with a spicy finish. Solid, slightly chewy tannins provide the framework. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant, black olives, cigar box, subtle earthiness and spice.
