2009 Crabtree Watervale Riesling

Founded by Robert Crabtree more than 26 years ago, the Crabtree vineyard has recently been purchased by two dynamic wine industry executives, Richard Woods and Rasa Fabian. Having been fans of the wines for some time, they were thrilled to take over the venture with a vision to make the brand the best in the district. This wine marks an auspicious new beginning. While Bob Crabtree still has some involvement, Kerri Thompson (ex Senior Winemaker at Leasingham for 8 years) has been employed as winemaker. All the fruit is estate grown, hand picked and processed in their small wine making facility on the property.

Brilliant pale straw colour with slight greenish tinge and water-like hue. The nose displays superb intensity and varietal character with lime and citrus notes leaping from the glass, followed by orange rind and spice. Superb aromatics. Complicated flavours of citrus, orange rind and lime with a steely mineral like background. Clean, crisp acid finish with very long aftertaste of lime, citrus and spice.
