2005 Charles Heidsieck Vintage Brut Champagne

Laid in chalk cellars in 2006 and disgorged in 2015. Pours with a frothy white mousse that shows excellent hold over a pale gold straw coloured base that’s threaded by a very fine, persistent stream of tiny bubbles. The nose is both complex and intense offering up rich aromatics of baked bread and yeast lees followed by citrusy dried honey notes, brioche and hints of almonds. Rich, deep and full bodied with a creamy textural feel the palate boasts mouthfilling flavours of baked bread, oily toast like characters and yeast lees which sit over honeyed cashews and roasted almonds. Finishes dry with stimulating acidity and a long baked bread, yeast lees, oily toast, honeyed cashew and roasted almond aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
