2003 Penfolds Rawson's Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon

Bright crimson colour with crimson hue. Medium body. Aroma of vanilla, plum and blackcurrant, all quite subtle. The palate is overwhelmed by the firm dry tannins which override the fruit (one eventually finds a stewed fruit characteristic emerging). Long, dry and persistent tannins override the aftertaste.
