2003 Nicholson River Winery Chardonnay

Winemaker KEN ECKERSLEY has always produced esoteric Chardonnays that are comparable to the great wines of Giaconda. The vineyard was established in 1978, which makes Ken one of the pioneers of Gippsland. The Chardonnays are worked hard with every possible twist of winemaking being used to create highly complex, individual wines. The 2003 is Classic Nicholson River. Brilliant pale straw colour with pale gold hue. Superb nose, showing layers of complexity. Aroma of honey, honeycomb, fig and yeast lees. The palate is mouthfilling, showing considerable complexity. Flavours of honeycomb, hazelnut, cashew and spice overlaid with a creamy texture. Excellent length and depth, followed by a very long aftertaste of fig, honeycomb and hazelnut.
