Before that, underscored by sweet, farmyard style peat. The sherry quickly comes to the fore while the palate takes an intense, though drier turn as the sherry vies with the phenols. Something akin to smokey, cask strength Armagnac here. It all ends in a bittersweet and sooty rush of high-cocoa dark chocolate, date-cake, menthol tobacco and blackpepper and continues to unravel in an earthy vs peaty notes. Good staying power.
