Tasting note: The brilliant orange/gold appearance is a pleasure to behold. First passings reveal a waxy top note followed by sweet cigar box, followed by an intense core of orange blossom, dried apricot and vanilla. The palate possesses nice poise and concentration with a semi sweet burst of stewed apricot at mid palate followed by hints of date and almond. Very gentle spirit heat. Concludes dry with a delicious late almond and honey finale. If only more Cognacs were like this! 45% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Modeled after pre phyloxera Cognacs from the 1840s. Comes off aromatically different from any type of Cognac currently available due primarily to its strangely compelling fragrances of candle wax, brown butter, burnt match and granite/minerals; second stage sniffs encounter saw dust and oak plank. Entry is oddly but immensely likable in its take no prisoners sulphury/burnt match manner in which there's no shortage of fruit or new honey; midpalate is creamy textured, sweeter than the entry, raisiny and nutty. A controversial new / old expression of Cognac that recalls its 19th century heyday, yet it is totally contemporary and applicable to the present time.
