Manoir du Kinkiz produce Ciders and Pommeau from 21 different varieties of apples grown in their 30 ha orchard, overseeing all aspects of production. After researching and selecting the fruitiest varieties of local apples, master distiller, Herve Seznec has created ‘Gwen Blanche de pomme’, also referred to as their "Apple Cider Eau de Vie". This unusual, unaged spirit, which delivers a superb bouquet of ripe apples also delivers remarkable complexity. While we found it simply sublime on its own, Kinkiz also recommend their ‘Gwen’ as a cocktail base. Try a Blanche Royale (20ml of Gwen and 10 ml of cider or Champagne) or the "Vent du sud" (Southern wind) 1/3 grapefruit juice, 1/3 passionfruit juice, 1/3 red berries juice and 40ml of Gwen.

Tasting note: Clear. Perfumed aromas of ripe apple and pear with merringue and spice notes, particularly cinnamon and clove. A hint of musk adds to the complexity. Clean, gentle spirit delivers a mild prickle and pleasant warmth. Flavours of apple strudel, spice then an unusual note of sweet cabbage enters (not at all unpleasant). Persistent spicy apple fade. Long aftertaste of apple peel, boiled cabbage and spice. A vibrant and utterly delicious aperitif. 40% Alc./Vol.
