Lucid Absinthe (700ml)

Tasting note: Produced at the Combier distillery. Brilliant green with a watery hue. Opening finds old parchment then fresh liquorice strap / anise. Second pass releases muted herb, chamomile tea and odd hints of kitty litter. Semi sweet, some what broad mouthfeel with intense liquorice / anise flavours and a tingly, slightly hot finish. Concludes dry, almost imperceptibly bitter with moderate length. Lemongrass / liquorice aftertaste. 62% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... This cocktail-friendly absinthe is mild and herbaceous, hinting at fennel, lime peel, and a fresh hint of celery. Made with beet neutral spirits, it has a faint sweetness that plays around the edges. Light straw in the glass, louching to bright opalescent.

...This would be a fine intro to absinthe for anyone. Everything is correct, nothing overdone. Not distinctive, but I'm sure the producer went to good lengths to make sure they would have dead consistency in this product. It almost seems to be designed to not offend anyone, and there's always a sacrifice when one plays not to lose... diminished personality, distinctiveness, and excitement.
