Greytown Fine Distillates is the brainchild of Neil Catherall, the company’s distiller and master craftsman, and Andrew Wright, a local businessman. After several years of trial, Neil has created a Gin using the dried leaves from the local kawa kawa, together with New Zealand-grown navel oranges and Yen Ben lemons, the latter being the intense-flavoured descendant of the famous Lisbon lemon. Neil has designed a 200-litre copper still for distillation. Due to the small batch nature of the production process, batches will vary slightly in flavour profile.

Tasting note: Clear. Sweet citrus dominates with assorted pith and peel including orange, lemon and tangerine notes over a subtle juniper base. The palate is concentrated and mouth filling with a pepperiness evident throughout; orange rind and coriander seed flavours dominate. Light, clean, persistent aftertaste with a subtle spicy, rooty / horseradish-like fade. A citrusy gin with a peppery twist. 42% Alc./Vol.
