The Anchor Distilling Company, established in 1993, is dedicated to creating very small batches of traditionally distilled spirits of many types and styles.

Junípero Gin is another addition to the classic 'dry gin' tradition, utilizing more than a dozen botanicals in their natural state, in a small copper pot still at Anchor’s Potrero Hill distillery in San Francisco.

But the wonderful challenge for the contemporary distiller is in selecting and blending from a wide variety of additional, exotic botanicals in order to impart a uniquely satisfying, balanced character to his gin. Anchor Distilling have taken delight in the adventure of researching and experimenting with many such botanicals. They believe they have achieved a distinctive, intriguing complexity in their Junípero Gin: light and crisp and clean, combining a spiciness – the formula for a Martini with subtle delicacy. Martini Republic’s description hits it on the head: “Clean but not light like Plymouth. It is smooth but not the least bit tame, the spices shining through and the finish leaving a bit of a tang in the nose. The aroma is not as strong as, nor as mediciny as Bombay.”  While Lawrence Marcus from Variety comments, “...this does the London Dry style better than anything from the U.K. Power, spice, perfume and balance: It might be the most perfect gin around.”

Tasting note: Brilliant clarity. Opens with some unusual linseed oil-like aromas but settles into a restrained, fresh lemon peel, pepper, spice and piney juniper profile with impressive purity and balance at high abv. A vibrant, elegant and crisp gin for stylish martinis. 49.3% Alc/Vol.
