Compagnie des Indes Jamaica 5 Year Old Navy Strength Rum (700ml)

Compagnie des Indes is a French bottler, based in Beaune and managed by Florent Beuchet. Rums are selected based on their typicity and regional distinction, then bought back to France for maturation. Most are bottled without the addition of caramel colour or sugars. This edition is made from rums sourced from four different Jamaican distilleries and showcases the pot still style representative of the island's best. Bottled at 57% ABV as a tribute to the Royal British Navy.

Tasting note: Deep gold. Opens with powerful aromas of creamy soda, fried banana, dried mango, fruit bread and white pepper. Second pass finds raw sugar, hints of white chocolate and banana cake added to the mix. Concentrated yet remarkably smooth and poised given the ABV; gentle bittersweetness at midpalate with banana peel, fruit loaf, white pepper, grassy/pineapple freshness and warming sweet spices lingering at length. Complex and never too sweet. Beautifully done.57% Alc./Vol.
