Pours with a fluffy white mousse. The base colour is pale straw with tinges of gold around the edges. Very fine bead with a steady stream of bubbles. The nose exhibits Bollinger’s hallmark richness with pronounced aromas of baked bread, yeast lees and oily toast like characters followed by cashew, almond and citrus notes. Rich, mouthfilling flavours of baked bread, yeast lees, oily toast like characters, citrus and cashew. Creamy textural feel with good freshness on the finish. Long aftertaste of baked bread, oily toast like characters, yeast lees and cashew.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc 12%

Tasted May 2013: Consistently very desirable. Brilliant, pale straw colour. Excellent nose with aroma of yeast autolysis, grapefruit and citrus with some biscuit end notes. Generous full bodied palate driven by the Pinot Noir component which is the basis of all Bollinger blends. Excellent balance with clean acid finish and long yeast, nut aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years or enjoy now.

Other Reviews....
The NV Brut Special Cuvee is fabulous. Hints of pears, pastry crust and hazelnut lead to an expansive core of fruit. There is plenty of the signature Bollinger oxidative style in this rich, enveloping Champagne. Once again the Special Cuvee is one of the best Champagnes in its price range. This is Lot L114501. Disgorged April 26, 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.
