Blackwoods Superior Limited Edition Vintage 60% Gin (700ml)

Blackwood was founded in July 2002 with the aim of building Shetland’s first Scotch whisky distillery.

However, as reported by The Gin Blog, "...in May 2008, the company went into administration, with a new company, Catfirth Ltd, being established to continue the business. It’s difficult to separate fact from rumour (sometimes malicious) about what happened to date, the plans going forward or the distillery and it’s producers- but suffice to say the gin was born from this enormous distillery fiasco".

The firm now distills its gin on the Scottish mainland but still buys the wild botanicals from crofters who ­harvest them on Shetland.

This special high proof bottling was made with Summer 2007 Wild Shetland Botanicals. Natural Ingredients include Angelica Root introduced by the Vikings 800 years ago, Wild Water Mint picked from around the lochs for subtle refreshment, Sea Pink flowers gathered during its brief summer flowering, Juniper Berries from Umbria, Dried Lemon and Orange Peels, Cassia Bark, Liquorice Root, Ground Nutmeg, Cinnamon Bark, Orrisroot & Coriander Seeds.
