This delightful gift pack offers three contrasting expressions from the one distillery in the form of 3 x 200ml bottles.
Benromach 10 Year Old tasting note: Pale gold appearance. Gorgeous aromatics with a sultry amalgam of poached pear, dried fruits, dark chocolate and the gentlest wafts of peat. Aeration draws out hints of baked apple and sweet spices. A clean, crisp malt delivery supported by lively spices; fine threads of smoke and a delicious fruity edge; sweet barley dovetails into grassy, citrus freshness at the finish while light pepper warmth and sooty peat round out the aftertaste. Superb purity. One of a handful of 10 year olds that really engages, and with a price that places it in the top 3 or 4 values in its category. 92 points 43% Alc./Vol.
Benromach Organic tasting note: Glossy gold. Dazzles in the glass, forming thick legs. Creamy, almost oily bouquet, oozes fruity malt and vanilla with wonderful purity. Hints of grainstore and hay bail are detected in later passes. Light and easy on entry developing depth and texture; in fact, probably one of the creamiest barley deliveries you're likely to find: A juicy, nutty, oily malt with flavours of beeswax and shortbread heightening at the finish. Beautiful whisky that emphasises mouthfeel over complexity. References Glenmorangie Tusail (less the price tag). A simple pleasure. 92 points 43% Alc./Vol.
Benromach Peat Smoke tasting note: Bright pale gold appearance. A dry, earthy nose- at first light barley, then wafts of herb infused peat; settles back after 2-3 minutes exposure as briny cereals enter with trace peppermint. Youthful and pleasantly spicy. Mid palate expands as sweet barley, stewed orchard fruits and peat-laced vanilla cream flood the mouth. Finish is juicy, lipsmacking with peel freshness and lanolin late in the fade. Really satisfying, confident malt. This isn't pretending to be Islay, rather it sets a style of its own. Nicely done. 93 points 46% Alc./Vol.
