"...a one off unique tasting barrel proof whiskey." - breakingbourbon.com

Tasting note: This ever-changing whiskey is blended from barrels of mature whisk(e)ys, scaled up into a larger "infinite" vat. The process is different from a traditional solera in that it contains fractions of many barrels in a single blend, whereas a solera would aim to retain fractions of an original whiskey in many barrels. Consistency of style is not primary here, rather the results can be unpredictable and whimsical. (True to BCS's commitment to transparency, you can find which whiskeys are present in each bottling by referring to the bottling date on the front label and going to their website). The September 2020 edition starts out like a rye on the nose, with whiffs of peppermint over deeper notes of toffee apple, dark chocolate, cocoa and caramel fudge. Malty on entry, but builds with a punchy, bittersweet rye-like attack. Finishes with nipping spices and an oily, woody (unripe banana?) and bitter chocolate aftertaste. Some may find it too astringent. In addition to the previous bottling, this one introduces mature Polish Rye Whiskey, Scotch Whisky, Indiana Whiskey and Indiana Malt Whiskey, mostly finished in the company's own x Bourbon barrels. 59.65% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Considering the volume for each release will likely be reasonably small, Barrell probably could have priced this at a premium relative to their standard Barrell Whiskey releases. But they didn’t.... a must-buy for Barrell fans who will undoubtedly want to compare it to future releases to experience the changes over time. For those not necessarily interested in the concept itself, at face value it’s still a one off unique tasting barrel proof whiskey. - breakingbourbon.com
