‘Babicka' is the Czech term for an extraordinary band of sixteenth century peasant grandmothers with a mysterious reputation for witchcraft. Gathering wormwood and other herbs from the wilds of the Czech lands to create charms and tonics to supplement their meager income, the Babicka recipes represent some of the earliest vodka formulas ever created. Babicka Vodka is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Arran Russell and Alex Clarke. The pair developed the concept after meeting an eccentric solitary distiller in Moravia who was experimenting with various ancient recipes and modifying them for today's tastes and standards, bringing the Babicka legend full circle.

The alchemy of this contemporary Babicka brew combines only the pure ingredients, with water drawn from 10,000-year-old deep springs near the city of Prostejov, steeped in the mineral-rich stones of the Czech landscape and undisturbed for countless centuries. Sensuously pure and crystal clear, this ancient water lends the vodka its incomparable clean, crisp taste. Wormwood is a bitter herb that is grown in the Czech Republic from which thujone is extracted. The result is a unique wormwood-infused Vodka replicating a 500-year-old Czech 'witches recipe'.
