Veneto, Italy’s north-eastern region with Venice its capital, is home to the Pinot Grigio grape variety. Each year, since the 10th century, The Carnival of Venice is celebrated in the San Marco Square, with people dancing and feasting behind elaborate and exotic masks which is where this wine takes it’s name - La Maschera (the mask). Protected from the harsh northern European climate by the Alps, these cooler climes are somewhat similar to the coastal maritime regions of the Limestone Coast where the grapes for this wine were harvested.
A consistently excellent Pinot Grigio, the juice for this wine was wild fermented on full solids in old French oak where it remained on lees for 7 months to enhance the texture.

Boasting superb intensity of flavour and a beautiful texture, this is a fantastic example of Pinot Grigio.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a faint greenish tinge to the edges and a watery hue. Elevated spiced pear and red apple scents meld into subtle honeysuckle and quince notes. Rich, concentrated and luscious in texture, the palate is engulfed with ripe pear, red apple and honeysuckle flavours. Finishes spicy with some quince and cinnamon characters also present. Nicely balanced acidity lends freshness to the long, generously textured aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
