2019 Sons of Eden Pumpa Cabernet Sauvignon

Pumpa is Sons of Eden's tribute to one of the pioneers of Eden Valley viticulture, Len Pumpa. Some previous vintages have been labelled as Cabernet Shiraz, however, recent releases have a higher proportion of Cabernet in the blend being made up of (88%) meaning that it can be labelled as Cabernet Sauvignon. Maturation took place in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 12 months.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated blackcurrant, plum, subtle liquorice and ripe mulberry scents morph into cedary tobacco characters and notes of spicy dried herbs. Rich, seductive red to black currant, dark plum and mulberry fruits are cast across a full bodied palate with notions of vanillin cedar, dried herbs and spicy tobacco lying underneath. Ripe and fleshy in its texture with an underlying sturdiness to the polished tannin structure. Excellent depth and power with a long over flowing aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
