So named because of the original School House built on this site back in 1888, the vineyard is located on the north- eastern edge of the famous Coonawarra terra rossa strip, with rich red loamy soil overlaying chalky limestone. Low yields are maintained in the vineyard with fermentation taking place in small tanks and aging takes place in a combination in new and old French barriques.
Showing all the hallmarks of classic Coonawarra Cabernet at just $16.99 this delivers ripping value.
Inky black in colour showing excellent depth with a dark red black tinged hue. Possessing a distinct bay leaf overlay and showing good intensity is a mix of red to black currant and mulberry fruits with vanillin cedar, tobacco and spicy black olive notes ensuing. Rich blackcurrant and mulberry flavours are cast across the mid weighted palate with cedary tobacco characters, infusions of bay leaf and spice also chiming in. A fleshy mouthfeel counterpointed by nicely balanced fresh acidity and a refined tannin structure. Excellent length with a long polished aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Everything about this wine screams classic, familiar, pleasing Coonawarra cabernet, its aromatics lifted with cassis and mint chocolate, reverbing as you drink with a full-bodied backbone holding everything in place. Vibrant, dark berry fruit flavours, deftly supported by good oak without dominating, and discernible yet mild tannins to finish. Very tidily delivered for a terrific Coonawarra cabernet experience for all comers.

A wonderful rendition of the variety; the immediately appealing bouquet shows cassis, floral, cedar and subtle spice notes with a touch of tobacco complexity. It's concentrated and flavoursome on the palate, delivering excellent fruit purity and persistency. Opulent and stylish at the same time, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2034.
