2019 Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay

A multi clone Chardonnay sourced from predominantly from Montalto’s cooler Red Hill site (72%) with the balance coming from the warmer Tuerong vineyard. Aged for 9 months on lees in French oak barriques of which 27% were new.

Dual Trophy winner at the 2020 Victorian Wine Show

Brilliant pale straw colour with a faint glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Delightful aromatics of white peach, nectarine and dried honey are complexed by notions of subtlety toasted biscuity oak, citrusy nougat and gun flint. Gently creamed texturally, the mid weighted palate is flooded with fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits which show ample richness as well as intensity. Flowing onto the back half are subtle dried honey, citrusy nougat, delicate cashew and spice nuances. Perfectly balanced acidity lends freshness to the long beautifully rounded finish. Dual trophy winner at the 2020 Victorian Wine Show for best Chardonnay of Show and best white wine of show.
