2019 Grosset Polish Hill Riesling

Clare Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$89. 99
Bottle
$1079.88 Dozen
Cellar: 6 - 8 Years (2025-2027)
ABV: 12.5%
Closure: Stelvin

Certified organic. Brilliant water like colour with a distinctive tinge of green around the outskirts. Piercing their way through the nostrils are intense lemon and lime aromatics followed by notions of green apple, subtle talc and steely mineral notes. Accessible, intensely flavoured and powerful yet still remarkably tightly coiled the palate features a core of pristine lemon and lime fruit that’s threaded by a tight line of acidity. Mouth watering crunchy green apple, orange rind, steely talc like characters and minerals chime in on the dry, austere finish. Magnificent drive on an exceptionally long aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.5%

Other Reviews....
The sails of the ship are still tightly furled, but the length and balance will stand the wine well as it ages (for decades) elaborating on the flavours of the Polish Hill River district as it always does. Drink by 2035.

Hand crafted, organically grown, single site/estate riesling from Grosset. 10% price increase on last year. There’s no wage stagnation at the top of the Australian wine industry. Heavy riesling bottle.
Super dry. Super minerally. Excellent intensity. Purity, absolutely. Hay, wheat, lime, flowery apples and talc, and of course that quartz-like quality. It’s tight through the finish, to the point where it doesn’t quite feel as long as it should; it will relax in time, and all will be sorted. Drink 2021 - 2030+

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front (September 2019)

More intense than many young Polish Hill Rieslings, this 2019 retains great poise and shape within its rich frame. Floral notes abound – violets and lavender, lemon and lime blossom – and such a heady perfume points towards a similarly rich palate. Intense juicy lime is carried on a tight acid spine that also bears mineral notes of shale and schist. Complex yet crisp and very persistent. Drink 2021 - 2050.
