A seriously good Morgon that’s highly addictive.

This wine is sourced from Daniel Bouland’s very oldest bush vines planted in 1926 on granite sand soils (Sable means sand).
Terrific depth of colour displaying a black dark red core with a bright dark purple hue. Perfumed aromatics of violets, fragrant herbs, dark cherries, strawberries and incense rise from the glass with notions of clove, earth and subtle spice also evident. Super seductive with wonderful purity and depth, delicious dark cherry and strawberry fruits subtlety infused with incense are layered across the palate. Elements of fresh herbs, light earth and spice are littered across the back half. Fleshy in its feel with bright fresh acidity and silky tannins leading into an irresistible finish that will keep you coming back for more.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews…..
Daniel Bouland's freshly bottled 2019s arrived the day before I left France, and I was delighted that they did, as this estate is one of my personal reference points for the Beaujolais. As I've written before, Bouland works with almost seven hectares of predominantly very old vines in Morgon, Chiroubles and Côte de Brouilly, and he vinifies with whole bunches, pumping over twice a day, giving his wines a classical maceration of two to three weeks. After pressing, élevage is in foudre and cement tank. Concentrated and succulent, Bouland's wines are beautifully differentiated by site and age gracefully. Bouland proudly informed me that he's now using higher-quality corks, so that graceful evolution should be even more regular going forward—something that was evident on opening these 2019s. At this address, 2019 has turned out beautifully: generous and elegantly fleshy but also finer-boned than the exuberantly fruit-driven 2018s. With 2017, 2018 and now 2019, Bouland has produced a trio of fine vintages, and I suspect that determining a preference between them will be easier in a decade than it is today.
The 2019 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable is excellent, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, plums, violets and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and muscular, built around succulent acids and powdery tannins, it's elegantly structured and built to age, even if it's charming enough to be enjoyed young—the 2011 vintage from my own cellar is drinking brilliantly. Drink 2020-2040.
