Cabernet Franc. Superb depth of colour featuring an inky black core and a deep bright dark purple hue. Elevated ripe red currant aromas have a distinct leather overlay with earth, infusions of fresh herbs and spice also apparent. Light in body and very elegant in its feel, red currant and mulberry flavours meld into earthy leather characters, infusions of fresh herbs and spice. Dry, slightly inky finish with light dusty tannins and bright acidity leading into a delicate aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13%

Les Granges is the Baudry family’s vin de bistro—a delicious, entry level Cabernet Franc designed for early drinking. It comes mostly from the Estate’s younger vines planted between 1985 and 1988 grown on the alluvial gravel soils of the terraces by the river Vienne. This is a terroir that loves long periods of dry and warm weather, which is exactly what it received in 2019. The fruit was picked by hand, fermented cool, and then raised in a mix of concrete and large wooden vats. It’s another glorious release for this juicy, dark cherry, meat and ink-noted wine, with a little more energy and powdery grip than the mouth-filling 2018.
