2018 Vasse Felix Classic Dry White

Vasse Felix’s take on Margaret River’s signature white blend is comprised 66% Semillon and 34% Sauvignon Blanc. For the 2018 vintage 58% of the wine was fermented under cool conditions using specially selected yeasts to ensure the varietal characters were accentuated, while 42% was permitted to ferment wild in tank contributing a softer/fuller mouthfeel.

A cracking deal on this intensely flavoured Margaret River classic.

Brilliant water like colour with a faint greenish tinge around the outskirts. Pronounced aromatics of herbaceous gooseberries, subtle passionfruit and citrus rise out of the glass with an overlay of grassy asparagus characters and faint capsicum end notes. Intense, mouth-watering flavours of ripe gooseberries, passionfruit and citrus combine over a back drop of herbaceous grassy characters and light spicy capsicum. Zingy finish with crisp acidity and a long persistent aftertaste. At this price it’s the perfect summer dry white.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

A semillon/sauvignon blanc blend that for all the world looks like it has a slab of chardonnay included (it doesn't). The comings and goings of the Classic Dry White name could take a book to record. This is a nice wine. Drink by 2022.
