This single site Grenache comes from the Harris Vineyard located in Marananga on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. Planted in 2002 and grown as bush vines in iron stone rich brown loam and clay soils the resulting wine is highly expressive with fragrant aromatics, tension and balance. Matured for 18 months in 2400 litre French oak foudre.
Very deep black dark red core with a bright dark red hue. Soaring out of the glass are potent aromatics of black raspberry, liquorice and black cherries followed by notions of incense, dried herbs, light fennel and pepper. Rich, voluptuously textured black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours saturate the mouth underscored by earthy incense like characters, fennel and spicy pepper. Silky tannins show good underlying presence. Impressive power and density of fruit with a long lavish conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
