2018 Spinifex Papillon

A blend of 78% Grenache and 22% Cinsault from vineyards ranging in age from 40 to 120 years old. Approximately 40% of the fruit was fermented as whole clusters with the balance destemmed. Maturation took place in a mixture of concrete, stainless steel and large old oak barrels for a period of 5 months.

Semi translucent bright dark red colour with a crimson purple hue. A wonderfully fragrant nose sees a combination of dark raspberry, strawberry and ripe red cherry scents blossom out of the glass followed by liquorice, incense and provincial herb notes. Light to medium weight, delicious bright red fruits fill the mouth with traces of liquorice, infusions of incense, herbs du Provence and spice also present. Juicy rounded mouthfeel with slippery tannins and vibrant acidity on the finish. Long spicy dark raspberry, red plum, cherry, subtle liquorice and fresh herb infused aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
