Chablis, FRANCE
$230. 00
Bottle
$2760.00 Dozen
ABV: 13%
Closure: Cork

While the origins of this domaine date back to Charles-Louis-Noel Billaud in 1815, it's the current generation winemaker Samuel Billaud that has made waves with the exceptional quality of his wines produced since the creation of this project in 2009. Following the sale of the family business Domaine Billaud-Simon to Faiveley in 2014, Samuel received further prized parcels of land and now makes wines from five of the grand cru vineyards, and five of the top premier cru vineyards. The wines are vinified in a mixture of stainless steel and large old wood barrels, the latter mainly for the premier and grand cru wines.

Other Reviews....
The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has turned out very nicely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of ripe orchard fruits, citrus oil, freshly baked bread, dried white flowers and beeswax. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's textural and multidimensional, with fine depth at the core, ripe but racy acids and a long, saline finish.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (July 2020)

The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is one of the best expressions of this noble vineyard in this vintage. Limpid argent in hue, it has a taut, fresh, flinty bouquet that you might misconstrue as coming from a cooler growing season, a testament to Billaud’s winemaking skill. The palate is likewise underpinned by a fine line of acidity that keeps this Les Clos poised, refreshing and revivifyingly saline. There is just a light sour lemon note mixed with a tang of ginger on the finish, completing a very fine Les Clos that comes highly recommended.
