Inky black dark red colour with a bright purple red hue. Elevated dark cherry and liquorice aromas intermix with blueberry, plum, lightly scorched earth and spicy herbs. Rich dried cherry, plum and liquorice fruits exhibit a youthful inky freshness with elements of dried herbs, earth and spice underneath. Dryish finish with chewy tannins and bright almost crunchy like acidity. Concludes with a long ripe yet robust aftertaste, the tannins imparting some grip.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews…
This is one of the most important wines to come out of Australia for quite some time, and also very good. Dark blood-ruby; amaro, woodsy spices such as cinnamon quills and star anise, with red licorice, sandalwood and juniper. Fuller-bodied with all-encompassing tannins, yet a freshness throughout. Credit to Stephen Pannell's foresight and belief in the variety's distinction. The rest is magic. First vintage. Extraordinary. Bravo. Drink by 2026.

Plum, cherry, spice, plenty of aniseed. Medium-bodied, milk choc-cherry, earth and more aniseed, grip from chamois-like tannin, freshness and energy, stony finish of solid length. Personality of the grape comes through strong. Excellent. Drink 2020-2027.
